Windows PowerShell Fundamentals - 2 days

Learn to use Microsoft’s new environment for Windows and server administration: Windows PowerShell! This course assumes no prior experience, and guides you through the essentials of what PowerShell is, how it works, why you can’t afford to live without it, and – most importantly – how to use it to make everyday administrative tasks faster, easier, and more consistent.

Use PowerShell more effectively! This course covers intermediate topics such as error handling, debugging, regular expressions, advanced modularization techniques, advanced object manipulation, and much more. You’ll be a more refined and efficient administrator by leveraging more of PowerShell’s flexible and powerful capabilities.

Learn to work with the data stored in databases, create graphical dialog boxes, define custom formatting views and type extensions, work with XML-based data, and much more. Includes a complete half-day, hands-on practical where you’ll use PowerShell to create a complex administrative utility from scratch.

Custom PowerShell courses to your own specification

I've found over the last year that clients often want to take the PowerShell knowledge they have acquired from the Sapien courses and spend some time applying it to their own environments and problems. To accommodate this I offer custom combination courses.

For example, one client requested an additional focussed day on using PowerShell to manage Exchange 2007 so we set the classroom up with a Windows 2003 domain and multiple Exchange 2007 servers. As the course progressed we were able to thoroughly explore Exchange 2007 cmdlets and build PowerShell scripts that would be directly useful in their production environment.
